That little yellow dress.

Recently I fell into an 80’s music video rabbit hole on YouTube. I went to a land far away, deep into the past, which I had forgotten about. I rediscovered the hits of my teenage years. Not necessarily my favorites, but hits none the less and with new eyes, I saw what I never had seen. A cute yellow dress. I wanted it. So I got to work. Here’s the video I’m talking about: Kaoma – Lambada.

The video is pretty funny with its gratuitous shots of butt checks at close range and subplot of a moody bar owner and the tension between him and his equally moody daughter. Is he angry because nobody pays for their drinks?  Why can’t she dance with the kid? What are the child labor laws like in this tropical paradise?

The pattern is a basic princess line bodice with a flared skirt. The hem comes to a long point at the back. It has a scoop neckline front and back. And it has sleeves that end at the elbow.

    • Hi Nadia,

Sorry for the late reply. I have made the pattern for the yellow dress but I haven’t graded it up to all the sizes yet. I was planning on just selling the pattern. Would you like to have a copy or do you want to have a dress made for you? If so, you will need to send me your measurements- Bust, waist and hip size and I can give you a price. Also would you like it in yellow, just like the video? I think it would look good in a cotton or linen fabric. Give me your thoughts.

      Regards,
